SNACKS TO FIGHT DEPRESSION

Dark Leafy Greens: These are the most nutritious veggies and have the highest immune-boosting and anticancer effects. These greens lead to all types of inflammation, and according to a 2013 study, severe depression has been linked with brain inflammation. Leafy greens are also important because they contain vitamins A, C, E, and K, minerals, and phytochemicals.

Walnuts: These nuts are special because they are the richest plant sources of omega-3 fatty acids and many types of research have proven that omega-3 fatty acids support brain function and reduce depression symptoms.

Avocados: Avocados are really good foods for humans mentally and physically because they contain healthy fats that your brain needs in order to run smoothly. When avocados are added to one’s diet since they also have so many vitamins and dietary sugar, they also help you lose weight.

Berries: All types of berries; blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, and strawberries contain humongous amounts of antioxidants. In a study displayed in the Journal of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine, patients who ate more berries for 2 years had a significantly lower depression rate than people who didn’t consume berries.

Mushrooms: Mushrooms are great for your mental health because their chemical properties oppose insulin, which helps lower blood sugar levels, evening out your mood. Another reason is that they are also similar to certain probiotics because they promote healthy gut bacteria. When consumed they show a high difference between people who eat them and people who don’t. People who eat them are 67% more likely to overcome depression.

Onions: Many people despise onions, but they can truly help you change your life. It is proven onions and all allium vegetables (garlic, leeks, chives, shallots, and spring onions) have been associated with a decreased risk of several different cancers. Since they can decrease many cancers, they can also decrease gut cancer and since the gut and the brain work together, they can also improve your mood.

Tomatoes: Tomatoes contain lots of folic acids and alpha-lipoic acid, both of which are good for fighting depression. Many bodily studies show an increased number of folate deficiency and about one-third of depression patients were deficient in folate. Since tomatoes contain folic acid, eating them can bring your folic acid rates back to normal, as well as increasing your mood.

Beans: Many people enjoy beans, but they are not aware of all the benefits that come with eating them. They are so enjoyable because they are anti-diabetes and are great weight loss foods. They are good for your mood because our bodies digest them slowly, which stabilizes out our blood sugar levels.

Seeds: Seeds are great not only for your mood but also for your body. Popular seeds such as flaxseeds, hemp seeds, and chia seeds are really good for your mood because they are rich in omega-3 fatty acids. When consumed, omega-3 fatty acids help to reinforce the way the human brain works and the acids even out our moods too.

Apples: Apples are not only sweet, but they are also high in antioxidants just like berries. These antioxidants also help to prevent and repair inflammation on the cellular level. They are also full of soluble fiber, which balances blood sugar swings, making you feel joyous again.
